Activities

  • Last spring, the school acquired an incubator, and the children helped to place chicken eggs in the incubator and then to care for the baby chicks after they hatched. The children found this extremely interesting, and they are looking forward to collecting eggs in the near future.

  • Starting in the Fall of 2022, we will start offering an (optional) Art program. We are fortunate to have a prize-winning Bozeman painter who has offered to conduct this program. She will be charging $30 per child for a 30-minute session; this price includes all the necessary materials, and we anticipate two sessions per month.

  • We will have a special Montessori celebration during “circle time.” We encourage parents to attend if possible.

If the parents want to send in and/or bring birthday refreshments for the class, please check with the teacher ahead of time in case any of the other children have food allergies.

Please do not deliver invitations to non-school parties via the school or classroom unless everyone in the class is being invited.

  • The school is required by State law to have fire drills at least once per month. All children are required to participate in these fire drills.

  • The children will be offered music during school hours, including singing, listening to quality music (e.g., classical music, traditional children's songs, etc.), and listening, playing to, and watching the teacher play musical instruments.

  • Parents are very welcome to participate in the school in reading, cooking, and/or sharing a special talent/skill with the children. The children are always very happy to receive visitors at the school to share their talents and knowledge. It is very satisfying for the children to have Mom and/or Dad visit them at school for a special presentation. If any parents want to do this, please talk to the teacher to schedule a time.

Our goal is to create a strong community. We offer school events for families to gather and to have the opportunity to get involved in their children’s education and in our school program.

  • Meetings will be scheduled with parents to keep them informed of their child’s progress.

  • Children are welcome to bring special photographs, educational vacation souvenirs, etc. to class occasionally to share during “Circle Time.”

Please do not bring routine toys, dolls, stuffed animals, jewelry, and the like to school. If in doubt, please check with the teacher ahead of time.

During their first few days at school, some younger children may want to have a photograph of their family or some similar item to keep in their cubby for reassurance and emotional support.

  • The “HappyFeet” soccer program comes to the school once a week (weather permitting) for a 30-minute session to teach the children soccer skills. This optional program costs $45 per month; if you would like to enroll your child, please let me know, and I will give you the link to the “HappyFeet” website. Parents who wish to enroll in this program pay “HappyFeet” directly; the school is not involved. The students seem to find this program very enjoyable.

  • The summer program is divided into two sessions. In addition to the normal Montessori curriculum, outdoor activities such as eating outside, gardening, and the use of sprinklers will be added during the warm-weather months. Each week we will be learning a different theme. The students will work on art and outdoor projects related to the theme.

  • The school does not offer any form of transportation, and no school trips are planned for the foreseeable future.

  • Our aim is not only to make the child to understand, and still less to force him memorize, but so to touch his imagination as to enthuse him to his innermost core.
